Why hire a company to remove asbestos from your home? -- While it is generally not illegal to remove asbestos yourself, you are better hiring a company to do it.

Not only do they remove asbestos without any danger to you or themselves, they also make sure all of the asbestos is removed. That way your home can be certified asbestos-free.

How does a company remove asbestos? -- If the asbestos is just in one room, they will generally install one to three HEPA filters outside with pipes leading through windows into the room. These then go to work sucking air out of the room, which prevents asbestos-contaminated air leaking into the rest of the building.

Wearing protective clothing, the asbestos team then goes to work removing all asbestos in the room. If flooring, wallpaper, woodwork or any other substance has been contaminated with asbestos, this will also be removed. All the debris, including the asbestos is then put into garbage bags and removed from your home. It is then safely contained and destroyed at the company's facility.

An entire home contaminated with asbestos -- If asbestos is found in all rooms of your home, it will generally have an enormous tent put over. That way the team can remove the asbestos without any worry of some of it leaking into the outside air.

Once the team has finished all removal, an air test is then performed. That way the team can be sure all the asbestos has been removed, and the home can then be certified asbestos-free.
